Oil surges after Trump warns of ongoing Iran strikes
Oil prices rose by more than $5 on Thursday, April 2, after President Donald Trump stated that the United States would continue attacks on Iran without specifying a concrete timeline for ending the war, heightening investor fears of prolonged supply disruptions.
Brent crude futures increased by $6.33, or 6.3%, to $107.49 per barrel, CE Report quotes FENA.
U.S. WTI crude rose by $5.28, or 5.3%, to $105.40 per barrel.
The price surge came after an earlier drop of more than $1 for both benchmark types ahead of Trump’s televised address to the nation.
Prices had also fallen in the previous session.
