Bulgaria Eases Renewable Energy Rules

Energy

Bulgaria's Parliament has passed final amendments to the Energy from Renewable Sources Act aimed at simplifying and accelerating the development of renewable energy. Proposed by MPs Delyan Dobrev, Krasen Krastev (GERB-UDF), and Pavela Mitova (TISP), the changes require administrative permits for renewable energy facilities to be issued within one year and set a 14% renewable energy target in transport by 2030, CE Report quotes BTA

Grid operators are barred from imposing unfair fees on consumers generating and using their own electricity. Municipalities must establish service centers to guide citizens on renewable projects. Other changes include extended contract terms for wind installations, regulated heat pump specifications, and streamlined leasing of public properties for energy projects.
