Czech PM discusses Azerbaijani energy transit via Ukraine

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis has said that he discussed the transit of Azerbaijani oil and gas through Ukrainian territory with President Volodymyr Zelensky during their meeting in Yerevan.

According to the news site Report.az, the discussion took place during bilateral talks on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Yerevan, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.

Zelensky and Babis addressed the possibility of transporting Azerbaijani energy resources via Ukraine.

"I asked President Zelensky whether Ukraine would allow the transit of Azerbaijani oil and gas through its territory. He replied that it is possible," Babis said.

Babis added that Prague needs to "fulfil all agreements" with Azerbaijan regarding gas supplies, noting that Azerbaijan is currently one of the largest suppliers of crude oil to the Czech Republic.

He also said that Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic are developing broader economic ties, including discussions on establishing joint ventures.

Earlier, Zelensky and Babis met in Yerevan to discuss bilateral relations between Ukraine and the Czech Republic.
