Poland allocates funds for cultural resources' digitization
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs of Poland Krzysztof Gawkowski announced that 440 million zlotys will be allocated for the digitization of cultural resources.
He also revealed plans to relaunch the “Kronika” project, the National Repository of Science and Culture Objects, CE Report quotes STA.
During a joint press conference with the leadership of the National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that data are the lifeblood of cultural institutions like this one.
“Open data in the digital world is something extraordinary, because access to data operates on many levels that we do not always notice, that are close to us, yet we are not always able to imagine the impact they have on every person’s life,” he said.
He assured that “it is a great pleasure for him and for the Ministry of Digital Affairs to see further steps being taken toward opening data.”
“We are simplifying access to ensure that every citizen, every public institution, and also every business can use them in a way that provides a sense of security, responsibility, and engagement,” Gawkowski added.
