Palestinian flag allowed at Eurovision 2026, no booing ban for Israel
The broadcaster hosting the next Eurovision Song Contest, Austria’s ORF, will not ban the Palestinian flag among spectators.
It also will not “muffle” boos during Israel’s performance, as has happened in previous contests, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.
The 70th contest, to be held in May, will feature only 35 entries - the lowest number since 2003.
Five national broadcasters, including those from Spain, Ireland, and the Netherlands, announced they would boycott the contest in protest of Israel’s participation.
As reported by CE Report, the Eurovision winner returned the trophy to protest Israel's inclusion.
