Romania’s Art Safari moves to new exhibition space
Art Safari will change its address starting in 2026, moving to Piața Amzei in Bucharest, into a new exhibition space of approximately 4,500 square meters, after 12 years and 17 editions hosted in various historic buildings across the capital, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.
“George Enescu Square, the Ciclop Garage, the Dacia-România Palace, the Kretzulescu Galleries, the Oscar Maugsch Palace in University Square, Victoria Tower on Calea Victoriei. All these places where we have stopped over the years, which we opened to the public and gave back to the city through art, carry the memory of Art Safari. From a 10-day pop-up art pavilion, we have transformed into a museum of temporary exhibitions, open year-round. Art Safari has organized ‘impossible exhibitions’ for Romania, proving that the Romanian public is a great lover of art. And because Art Safari has grown, starting in 2026 we are moving again, this time to Piața Amzei in Bucharest, with the support of Sector 1 City Hall. From March 26, 2026, the city will be able to enjoy in this vibrant area not only great coffee, pizza, and ice cream, but also art,” said Ioana Ciocan, Managing Partner of Art Safari, according to a statement sent to AGERPRES.
The Mayor of Bucharest’s Sector 1, George-Cristian Tuță, said that “the relocation of Art Safari to the new exhibition space in Amzei is part of the administrative effort of the past year to rebuild creative, cultural, and business communities in Sector 1.”
“It joins the deGalben Creative Hub in the neighboring building, the revitalization actions on Calea Griviței and at Casa Petrescu. Alongside efforts to clean and repair infrastructure, people also need culture, green spaces, and healthy, educational leisure activities. I am glad that private partners support our local administration with projects that contribute to a better quality of life for residents of Sector 1,” the mayor added.
The 2026 exhibition program, structured in two seasons, will mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Constantin Brâncuși with a tribute exhibition inspired by extensive research by Doina Lemny. It will be complemented by major retrospective exhibitions dedicated to painter Nicolae Vermont, poet Mihai Eminescu, legendary conductor Sergiu Celibidache, and contemporary culture, starting with Pop Culture.
The first exhibition season will run from March 26 to July 19, 2026, connecting heritage and contemporary art through paintings, sculptures, installations from museum and private collections, and special scenography.
Key exhibitions of the season include “Vermont and the Charm of the Belle Époque” (Museum Pavilion), “R:Eminescu. The Rational Poet” (Historical Pavilion), “Felix Aftene. Journal” (Contemporary Pavilion), alongside the International Pavilion and the Temporary Exhibitions Pavilion.
The exhibitions will also be accessible through guided tours dedicated to students, seniors, and the general public, as well as special thematic tours. The new edition also launches a season of special events such as Brunch at the Museum, The Art of Yoga, and art workshops like Art, Bubbles & Desserts, combining art with relaxation and memorable experiences.
Art Safari also announced the expansion of its educational area and the continuation of more than 200 collaborations with schools and universities nationwide. The youth program includes volunteering opportunities, special rates and ticket discounts, and dedicated school tours, aiming to turn every visit into a memorable learning experience.
A cultural project funded by the Ministry of Culture, Art Safari is organized in partnership with the Bucharest Municipality Museum. Over its 16 editions to date, it has attracted more than one million visitors.
