Viewers of the 70th Eurovision Song Contest, which will be hosted in May in Vienna, should expect enhanced security measures similar to airport-style checks, organizers and Austrian police announced.

“Our priority is to have a safe event, and we must guarantee that,” said Oliver Längens, director of artistic events at the Austrian public broadcaster ORF, during a press conference.

Every day, 500 security agents will be deployed only inside the venue where the contest will take place, the Stadthalle, which is located not far from the city center, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.

The public will not be allowed to bring any bags into the venue. Specially trained dogs will also be deployed across the city even before the contest, which is scheduled for the week of May 12–16.
