Actress Christina Applegate has opened up about the impact that her multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis has had on her life, particularly in her role as a mother, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

In an emotional account, she revealed how her 14-year-old daughter Sadie is coping with the illness that changed her mother, reports LADbible.

The 53-year-old star, who shares her daughter Sadie with her husband Martyn LeNoble, has lived with the incurable disease since 2021.

Applegate chose to speak about her experiences on the MeSsy podcast, which she co-hosts with fellow actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who also suffers from MS.

“In my situation, Sadie only knew me as a healthy person — a runner, a Peloton rider, a ballerina. So when this happened in 2021, she was stoic about it. And now, I see her watching me when I’m in bed and can’t really move,” Applegate said.

She added that there are moments when pain and immobility prevent her from performing even the simplest parental duties:

“Or when I want to go say goodnight in her room, but I can’t walk down the hallway because my legs aren’t working that day.”

The actress admitted she can “barely crawl to the bathroom” and feels as if her daughter has lost a part of the mother she once had.

“It’s like she lost the mom she knew because of this damn thing, and the older she gets now, I think it hurts her more,” she concluded.

Despite the heavy toll on their family, Applegate emphasized that her daughter has been an extraordinary source of support, motivating her to push through even when she feels she can’t go any further.

Recently, the actress revealed that she rarely leaves home due to severe symptoms and was hospitalized earlier this month for a kidney infection.

Multiple sclerosis is a condition that affects the brain and spinal cord, causing a range of symptoms that vary from person to person.
