Coppola: "Werner Herzog Is a Living Encyclopedia"
Werner Herzog is an encyclopedia, declared Hollywood director Francis Ford Coppola in his tribute speech for the German filmmaker, CE Report quotes ATA.
“His life has filled the pages of every encyclopedia – the books he wrote, the plays he directed, the roles he acted in. He wasn’t just capable of filling encyclopedia pages; Werner is an encyclopedia and a figure full of creativity,” Coppola added, looking toward Herzog.
“Herzog is a boundless phenomenon. Praising Werner Herzog is not enough. We must celebrate the simple fact that someone like him exists. Werner has emerged as an infinite phenomenon, working in every corner of cinema. His work burst into my life with the films Kaspar Hauser, The Enigma, Aguirre, Out of God, Stroszek, Fitzcarraldo. I had never seen such films – all unique and very different from one another, all magnificent,” Coppola emphasized.
