“Minions: The Rise of Gru,” the new chapter of the successful DreamWorks animated saga, released in Italian cinemas on August 20, immediately topped the weekend box office with €1,140,690 earned from Thursday to Sunday, and a total of €1,532,878 since its Wednesday release, CE Report quotes ANSA.

It dethroned the horror film “Weapons” by Zach Cregger, which held strong in second place with another €432,000, an 11% increase compared to last weekend, surpassing €2.1 million in three weeks.

The total box office for the weekend was €3,328,151, a 55.7% increase compared to the previous Ferragosto weekend.

“Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” slipped just 21% to third place, crossing €8 million in five weeks.

In fourth place, after two preview days last week, is “Warfare” with €316,000.

Fifth and sixth places go to new releases “Locked” with €255,000 and Austrian horror “Dangerous Animals” with €195,000.

Seventh is “Jurassic World: Dominion,” which surpassed €11 million with nearly 1.4 million admissions after eight weeks in the Top Ten.

Eighth place goes to the latest debut “Late Shift,” with €137,000 and the third-best per-screen average (€1,006 in 98 theaters).

Rounding out the top ten are “Crazy Friday” at ninth with a total of €778,000 and “Nobody 2” at tenth with €303,000.
