Emma Watson fined and banned from driving

British police are unforgiving when it comes to traffic violations — as Emma Watson, international film star and former Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter saga, has learned the hard way, CE Report quotes ANSA.

Watson has received not only a hefty fine but also had her driver’s license suspended for exceeding the speed limit by just a few miles per hour.

The incident occurred months ago, when the 35-year-old actress was caught driving her Audi at 38 mph on a road near Oxford with a posted speed limit of 30 mph.

Since 2023, Watson has returned to student life there, enrolling in a postgraduate course in Creative Writing at the prestigious University of Oxford.

The case — reported by the BBC among others — was heard today before a judge at Wycombe Magistrates' Court. The actress did not appear in person.

She was represented by her lawyer, Mark Haslam, who confirmed her identity and referred to her as a "student," assuring the court of her financial responsibility.

The judge imposed a fine of £1,044 (over €1,200) and suspended her driving license for six months.
