
Bulgaria Opens UNESCO Session
Bulgaria hosted an official reception in Paris to mark the opening of the 47th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, which it currently presides over. The event featured performances by the Bistritsa Babi choir, pianist Prof. Zheni Zaharieva, and violinist Darina Maleeva, CE Report quotes BTA
Held at UNESCO headquarters, the evening brought together international dignitaries and cultural leaders. Bulgarian Culture Minister Marian Bachev emphasized the shared duty to preserve global heritage, while UNESCO’s Ernesto Ottone called for promoting Paris as a hub of trust, peace, and sustainability.
Deputy Tourism Minister Irena Georgieva highlighted Bulgaria’s commitment to safeguarding common heritage. Notable attendees included UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, World Heritage Centre Director Lazare Eloundou Assomo, and Bulgarian Ambassador Radka Balabanova.
Running through July 16, the session will feature presentations on Bulgaria’s cultural and natural treasures. The July edition of LIK magazine, focused on Bulgaria and UNESCO, will also be launched during the event.
