Zadar will host the 65th edition of the Musical Evenings at St. Donatus, the city's oldest and most prestigious artistic festival, from 4 July to 6 August, announced Festival Director Ivana Kuljerić while presenting key highlights of the programme.

Kuljerić said that the Festival would once again bring together top-tier Croatian and international performers, blending tradition, spirituality, and contemporary musical excellence, CE Report quotes HINA.

"Musical Evenings in St. Donatus are more than a cultural event - they are a sonic postcard of the city of Zadar and an essential part of the Zadar summer. This year's opening will look a little different from previous years," said Kuljerić.

She revealed that the festival's 65th anniversary would be marked with a special celebration, which will also commemorate the anniversary of the Zadar Chamber Orchestra.

"For this occasion, we've decided to fuse the HRT Symphony Orchestra - which traditionally opens the festival - with the Zadar Chamber Orchestra, under the baton of maestro Ivan Repušić. A unique element of this performance will be the participation of the Zadar Dance Ensemble, who will accompany the orchestra in a performance of Ravel's Boléro," said Kuljerić.

The programme will feature a variety of stylistic expressions, including jazz, fusion, and multimedia interpretations.

Concerts will take place at several iconic venues: the Church of St. Donatus, the Providur's Palace, the Atrium of St. Nicholas Church, the Church of St. Chrysogonus, and the Garden of the Institute for Historical Sciences of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU). The opening ceremony will be held at the historic Roman Forum in Zadar.
