Kardashian Robbery Trial Begins in Paris

Kim Kardashian is expected to testify Tuesday in the trial underway in Paris against robbers accused of hooking up and robbing her at gunpoint almost nine years ago.

According to CNN, she is expected to share her experiences during the robbery that occurred during Paris Fashion Week in 2016, where about $10 million in cash and jewelry was stolen, including her $4 million engagement ring, which has never been found, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

This will be the first time Kardashian faces the alleged robbers in court.

The defendants – nine men and one woman, aged between 30 and 70 – face charges of armed robbery, kidnapping and criminal conspiracy. Eight of them deny involvement, while two have admitted to lesser offenses.

Some of them are repeat offenders, and the first part of the trial has focused on their criminal past, according to CNN.

The trial opened on April 28 in a packed courtroom in the French capital. Last Thursday, the court heard testimony from Kardashian's bodyguard as well as her driver that night, who claimed to have no memory of the incident, although he reportedly found the building's receptionist tied up, according to BFMTV.

The bodyguard, identified only as Pascal D., said he found Kardashian "crying hysterically" when he arrived.

Dubbed the “Grandpa Robbers,” of the original 12 suspects, one has died, while another has been declared incompetent to stand trial due to Alzheimer’s disease. If convicted, some of the defendants could face up to 30 years in prison.

The trial has been delayed for years, partly due to major issues such as the 2015 Paris terrorist attacks.

The court hearing is expected to last until May 22, while the verdict will be announced on May 23.
