Bulgaria Had the Lowest Number of Cultural Enterprises in the EU in 2022

In 2022, Bulgaria reported the lowest number of cultural enterprises in the European Union, according to Eurostat. Out of 2.03 million cultural enterprises across the EU, which made up 6.3% of all businesses, Bulgaria had just 3.1%, alongside Slovakia, CE Report quotes BTA

The cultural sector in the EU generated EUR 199 billion in value added, accounting for 2% of the total business economy. Creative, arts, and entertainment activities made up the largest share of cultural enterprises, with publishing and architecture contributing significantly to the sector’s total value.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) dominated the sector, with 78% of workers employed in micro-enterprises.
