The National Museum of Romanian Literature marks its 60th anniversary with a series of cultural and educational events throughout the year. The celebrations began with the launch of 'The Pandemic Diary or Wuhandemia - 2020' by poet and publicist Ion Hadârcă, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Hadârcă's book documents each day of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, offering insights into government actions, societal struggles, and the resilience of medical workers. A senator in Bucharest at the time, he meticulously recorded daily events, incorporating references to classic literature on past epidemics.

Museum curator Veronica Boldișor, who transcribed the handwritten journal, described the book as both a historical record and an emotional tribute to those lost during the pandemic. The museum, which houses the original manuscript, collaborated with 'Polislam' Publishing House to bring the work to the public.

Director Maria Șleahtițchi announced plans to establish a museum library and possibly a publishing house, 'MNLR Books.' The institution will also host an anniversary exhibition and a scientific conference in the autumn.

The museum, founded in 1965, has evolved over the decades, becoming the National Museum of Romanian Literature in 2023. Alongside the book launch, a photography exhibition by Mihai Poiată, capturing the pandemic period, was also unveiled.
