Firefighters turn rescue into lifesaving charity
The Public Fire Brigade of the City of Split is organising its third charity event called "With Heart for Little Heroes" to raise funds for the procurement of devices for passive walking stimulation for children who attend the Slava Raškaj Centre for Education and Rehabilitation.
The firefighters of Split came up with the idea to take part in a charitable initiative during an evacuation drill at the Centre, where they noticed that the medical equipment was outdated and that essential devices were lacking, CE Report quotes HINA.
The campaign is focused on the children who are users of the Slava Raškaj Centre and who suffer from various health conditions. The primary goal is to purchase Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) devices, along with additional medical equipment, depending on the amount of funds raised.
As part of the charity event, a central gathering will be held in the form of a fashion show on 7 June at the fire brigade headquarters, featuring representatives of all emergency services that work in partnership with the firefighters.
The Centre provides educational, developmental, and psycho-social rehabilitation services for children and young people, as well as psycho-social rehabilitation for adults with hearing, speech, and motor impairments, with the aim of equipping them for active participation in the community.
