Croatia's Velika Gorica will award 50 scholarships for the current school year to first-year students enrolled in three-year vocational programmes for high-demand occupations needed by the crafts sector.

The scholarships will amount to €100 per month and will be paid for 10 months, starting on September 1, CE Report quotes HINA.

The list includes 25 high-demand occupations, among them automotive mechatronics technician, chimney sweep, construction worker, stonemason, cook, waiter, butcher, upholsterer and carpenter.

Applications for the scholarships will be accepted until September 30. Eligible applicants are full-time first-year students who, except for justified reasons, have not repeated their first year of secondary school, have permanent residence in Velika Gorica and are Croatian citizens.

According to the terms of the call, each student will receive a total of €1,000, meaning the city will allocate €50,000 for all 50 scholarships.

The scholarship must be repaid if the recipient fails to complete the school year for which the scholarship was awarded or moves their residence outside Velika Gorica. Scholarship recipients may not simultaneously receive another scholarship for the same purpose.
