Today marks Earth Day observance
Today marks the observance of Earth Day, which this year is held under the slogan “Our Power, Our Planet,” highlighting the importance of collective action.
Various stakeholders have called for measures at the level of individuals, local communities, and policymakers, CE Report quotes STA.
At the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning of Slovenia, officials emphasized that a clean environment leads to fewer diseases, stronger economic and food security, a higher quality of life for citizens, and greater resilience to climate extremes.
In line with the central theme of this year’s Earth Day, the Ministry also underlined the importance of decentralized, locally driven measures and practices that are already showing positive results on the ground.
“Strong cross-sector cooperation between agriculture, forestry, climate policy, as well as the economy, infrastructure, education, and local governance is essential,” the Ministry said in a press release.
At the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation, officials stressed that environmental progress is not automatic and does not happen on its own, but is built through the everyday actions of individuals, communities, institutions, experts, and decision-makers.
