Earthquake hits southwestern North Macedonia

An earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter local magnitude scale was felt in the southwestern part of the country at 2:04 p.m., the Seismological Observatory at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje reported.

According to the Observatory, the epicenter was located in the Prespa epicentral area, approximately 127 kilometers southwest of Skopje, North Macedonia, CE Report quotes MIA.

“The earthquake was felt in the southwestern parts of the Republic, by residents of the city of Bitola and the surrounding area, with an intensity of III-IV degrees on the European Macroseismic Scale,” the statement said.

The Observatory also appealed to citizens to provide information for seismological research.

“For the purposes of seismological research, if you felt the earthquake, please call 112,” the Seismological Observatory said.
