Poland sees monthly drop in consumer prices despite annual inflation
In Poland, consumer prices in June 2026 increased by 2.5% compared with the corresponding month of the previous year (with an increase of prices of services by 5.4% and goods by 1.3%).
As related to the previous month consumer prices decreased by 0.5% (of which goods by 0.9%, while prices of services increased by 0.6%), CE Report informs via the Statistics Poland's official website.
In June of the current year, compared with the previous month, the highest contribution to the total consumer price index came from lower prices related to: Transport (by 4.4%), Food and non-alcoholic beverages (by 0.7%) and Clothing and footwear (by 1.7%), which decreased the index by: 0.45 pp, 0.17 pp and 0.06 pp, respectively. Higher prices related, among others, to Recreation, sport and culture (by 1.5%), Restaurants and accommodation services (by 0.5%) and Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (by 0.6%) increased the index by 0.10 pp and 0.03 pp each, respectively.
Compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, higher prices related, among others, to: Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (by 4.9%), Recreation, sport and culture (by 5.2%), Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (by 6.5%), Health (by 5.0%), Restaurants and accommodation services (by 4.5%), as well as Information and communication (by 4.0%) increased the index by: 1.00 pp, 0.33 pp, 0.32 pp, 0.31 pp, 0.25 pp and 0.20 pp, respectively.
Lower prices related to Clothing and footwear (by 3.1%), Food and non-alcoholic beverages (by 0.2%) and Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (by 1.1%) decreased the index by 0.12 pp and 0.06 pp each, respectively.
