Today, Vice Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi held a meeting with the new Ambassador Takeuchi Kazuyuki of Japan to the Republic of Moldova.

The discussions focused on strengthening the Moldova-Japan political dialogue, expanding economic cooperation, and exploring opportunities to deepen the bilateral partnership in areas such as infrastructure, energy, digitalization, and institutional development, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

Mihai Popșoi expressed gratitude to the Japanese side for its continuous support of Moldova, including its contributions to enhancing resilience and supporting the country’s European path. He also highlighted the significant role of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in implementing development projects in Moldova, including strengthening institutional capacities and modernizing key sectors.

“Japan is a trusted partner of the Republic of Moldova, and our bilateral cooperation has significant potential for growth. We aim to seize new opportunities for collaboration for the benefit of our citizens,” said Mihai Popșoi.

The parties also emphasized the importance of maintaining an active political dialogue and intensifying high-level contacts.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and Japan were established on March 16, 1992. Today, the bilateral legal framework includes over 40 agreements.
