Bulgaria Advances in OECD Accession Talks
Minister of Economy and Industry Peter Dilov met with OECD Deputy Secretary-General Yoshiki Takeuchi at the OECD headquarters in Paris on Wednesday to discuss Bulgaria’s progress in its accession process. The meeting focused on Bulgaria's advancements in technical reviews in areas including corporate governance, trade, consumer protection, and steel, CE Report quotes BTA
Bulgaria has completed 11 out of 25 planned technical reviews, including those by the steel and consumer protection committees. Both sides confirmed Bulgaria’s goal to finish the technical phase by the end of 2025 or early 2026, aiming for a formal invitation to join the OECD by late 2026.
Dilov emphasized that joining the OECD is a top foreign policy priority for the government, citing the significant benefits in boosting foreign investment, economic growth, and competitiveness. The country is actively working on applying OECD recommendations, particularly in investment policy, anti-corruption measures, environmental standards, and corporate governance.
Takeuchi expressed the OECD’s appreciation for Bulgaria’s progress and efforts in the accession process.
