Kosovo’s trade imbalance grows
Kosovo maintains a negative trade balance despite a slight increase in export values. Simultaneously, imports have risen in 2024 compared to 2023, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
Last year, Kosovo exported goods worth €889 million but imported €6.38 billion. One of the top export products in 2024 was electricity, valued at approximately €150 million, followed by doors and windows worth over €98 million. Iron bars took third place with exports amounting to €93 million. Furniture, beds, and mattresses occupied the fourth spot, with exports exceeding €92 million, according to Kosovo Customs data.
A decline in export value compared to 2023 was observed in plastic products and furniture, including mattresses. In 2023, mattresses were the leading export, valued at over €146 million.
In contrast, Kosovo’s largest imports in 2024 included oil and lubricants, amounting to over €710.3 million. Vehicles and transport equipment followed, with a value of around €678 million. Machinery, tools, and auto parts secured the third position, totaling €464 million.
According to Kosovo Customs, Kosovo imported vehicles worth over €90 million more in 2024 than in 2023.
