Trump signals possible resumption of US-Iran talks

U.S. President Donald Trump said in an interview with The New York Post that negotiations between the United States and Iran could resume within the next two days, possibly again in Pakistan, where the first round of talks took place over the weekend but ended without results, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

“You should probably stay there (in Pakistan), because something might happen in the next two days, and we are leaning toward going back there” for further negotiations with Iran, Trump said.

He also praised Pakistan’s army chief, Asim Munir, saying he is doing an “excellent job” mediating between the United States and Iran.

“He is fantastic, so it is more likely we will return there,” Trump added.

After the failure of the weekend talks, Trump announced the imposition of a naval blockade against Iran, which came into effect on Monday. However, two vessels departing from Iranian ports managed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
