Zelenskyy Announces Peacekeeping Talks

War in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that a meeting on the potential deployment of a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine will be held on Friday. The gathering will involve military teams from various countries ready to deploy forces to the war-torn country in a land, air, and sea capacity, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

During a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, Zelenskyy explained that while consultations have been ongoing, this meeting will be the first in-depth discussion on the matter. The talks are expected to provide clarifications based on proposals from Ukraine.

The peacekeeping discussions are being led by France and the UK, supported by a coalition of over 30 countries, following a summit in Paris on March 27. Russia, however, has strongly opposed the idea, with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov criticizing it as an attempt to escalate the conflict rather than ease it.
