Erdogan Opens Parks, Launches Gas Platform

On Thursday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan celebrated the 572nd anniversary of Istanbul's conquest by opening four new "nation's gardens," bringing the city's total to 34 green spaces spanning over 5.5 million square meters. He noted plans for 20 more gardens to enhance Istanbul's resilience in times of disaster, recalling last month's 6.2 magnitude earthquake that injured over 230 people, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Erdogan also praised the 1453 conquest of Istanbul as “one of the most magnificent victories in our history,” paying tribute to Sultan Mehmed II.

In a separate ceremony, Erdogan launched Türkiye’s first floating natural gas production unit, the Osman Gazi platform, which will soon double output at the Sakarya Gas Field in the Black Sea. The platform departed Istanbul, with arrival at Filyos Port expected on Sunday.
