Albanian villages eye global tourism title

The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has finalized the application for the international program “Best Tourism Villages” by the World Tourism Organization.

This initiative recognizes villages that have preserved their identity, heritage, and natural environment while developing tourism in a sustainable way, CE Report quotes ATA.

The news was announced today by the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, who described Albanian villages as a valuable tourism asset.

Kumbaro stated that through this application, six extraordinary villages are being highlighted, representing the richness and diversity of rural Albania.

“From rugged mountain peaks to fertile plains, from ancient stones to the colors of daily life—Albania competes among 65 countries, with a total of 270 villages vying for the title of Best Tourism Village,” said Minister Kumbaro.
