
Croatian students win four bronze medals at Central European Math Olympiad
Croatian secondary school students have won four bronze medals at the 19th Central European Mathematical Olympiad in Chemnitz, Germany, the Croatian Mathematical Society announced, CE Report quotes HINA.
The 19th Central European Mathematical Olympiad, which concluded on Sunday, brought together 10 Central European countries: Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Lithuania, Croatia and host country Germany, along with guest country Ukraine. The competition was open to secondary school students who had not participated in the International Mathematical Olympiad in the same year, the Croatian Mathematical Society noted.
Croatia was represented by the following students: Matej Križanić from First Gymnasium, Varaždin; Fran Čačinović from Lucijan Vranjanin Gymnasium, Zagreb; and Emil Missoni, Fran Pilipović, Ivan Katalenić and Lovro Kličković from Fifteenth Gymnasium, Zagreb.
The Croatian team achieved a good result in the individual competition. Lovro Kličković, Ivan Katalenić, Emil Missoni and Fran Pilipović were very successful, winning bronze medals, while Matej Križanić and Fran Čačinović received honourable mentions.
The team's preparations were organised by the Croatian Mathematical Society, while the preparations and travel were funded by the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth.
