Bulgarian tennis star set to drop outside top 130
Bulgaria’s top tennis player, Grigor Dimitrov, is set to fall outside the world’s top 130 in the men’s singles ATP rankings after losing his first-round match at the Monte-Carlo Masters.
The 34-year-old Dimitrov was defeated 4-6, 6-2, 3-6 by Argentine player Tomas Martin Etcheverry in a match lasting one hour and 57 minutes, CE Report quotes BTA.
As a result, Dimitrov failed to defend the ranking points he earned in 2025, when he reached the quarter-finals in Monte Carlo, and is expected to drop by at least 42 spots in the ATP rankings.
The last time the Bulgarian was outside the world’s top 100 was in March 2012. He has not been ranked outside the top 130 since 2010, when he was still a teenager.
