Barbie Signature pays tribute to legendary icons Whitney Houston and Marilyn Monroe with the launch of the latest additions to the Barbie Signature series, celebrating the enduring appeal of these two icons of music and cinema.

The launch comes in an extraordinary year: throughout 2026, fans around the world are commemorating more than four decades of Whitney’s unparalleled impact on music. In 2026, Whitney’s legacy continues to be celebrated through honors such as the Recording Academy’s Special Merit Award for Lifetime Achievement and the 2026 New Jersey Hall of Fame induction event, which paid tribute to Whitney’s 40-year career.

The doll recreates the singer’s look from the music video for “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me),” celebrating the anniversary of the single, which is considered one of the greatest pop songs of all time.

Created in collaboration with Pat Houston, executor of Whitney E. Houston’s estate and president of the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation, together with partner Primary Wave Music, Pat worked closely with the Barbie design team throughout the creative process.

The doll was unveiled on August 8 at The Whitley Hotel in Atlanta during the fifth annual Legacy of Love Gala, a charity event held to mark Whitney’s birthday.

As part of the occasion, the Barbie Dream Gap Project will make a donation to the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation to support its work providing educational opportunities, grants, and scholarships to young people.

Barbie Signature also celebrates Marilyn Monroe’s 100th birthday, paying tribute to the timeless glamour of the Hollywood icon.

Barbie Marilyn Monroe recreates one of her most memorable big-screen looks, inspired by her performance of “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” in “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,” the film that helped cement her legendary status.

Dressed in a bold pink gown with an oversized bow, long gloves, and diamond-inspired jewelry, the doll celebrates Marilyn’s unmistakable glamour.

Created in close collaboration with The Estate of Marilyn Monroe LLC, the Barbie design team worked throughout the creative process to capture Marilyn’s charm and style.

“More than simply paying tribute to her unforgettable look, we are honoring Marilyn as a pioneer — an accomplished producer, businesswoman, and artist who broke through every boundary — and this doll celebrates the entirety of her incredible legacy,” said Robert Best, Vice President and Creative Director of Dolls Design at Mattel.

This new release joins Barbie’s long tradition of celebrating Marilyn Monroe, following a collection of dolls launched between 1997 and 2009.
