NBA fines Minnesota Timberwolves' star over Portland Trail Blazers incident
The star of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards, has been fined $25,000 by the National Basketball Association for throwing a ball toward the stands, the Associated Press reported.
The incident occurred after the halftime buzzer during Minnesota’s 124–121 road win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday. Following a missed shot by the home team, Edwards grabbed the rebound and launched the ball toward the basket at the opposite end of the court. In a video released by the NBA, the ball can be seen striking an arena staff member in the head, CE Report quotes BTA.
The 24-year-old accumulated $420,000 in fines last season for eight separate violations, most of them related to the use of inappropriate language in postgame interviews.
The league also fined Desmond Bane of the Orlando Magic the same amount for a similar incident during a 110–109 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on the same day.
