EuroLeague fines Partizan, Crvena Zvezda over derby incidents
The EuroLeague basketball organization imposed fines totaling €87,000 on Belgrade rivals Partizan and Crvena Zvezda over incidents that occurred during their Round 15 game in the elite competition.
In the match, played on December 12, Partizan defeated Crvena Zvezda 79–76, and the EuroLeague announced that the “black-and-whites” were fined €59,000, while the “red-and-whites” were fined €28,000, CE Report quotes MIA.
Partizan was penalized, among other reasons, because its fans used lasers, threw objects onto the court, lit flares, and engaged in unsportsmanlike chanting.
Crvena Zvezda, meanwhile, will have to pay €28,000 after its supporters unfurled a banner over the scoreboard in Belgrade Arena, chanted inappropriately, and threw flares onto the court after the match, which required intervention by security staff and firefighters.
As reported by CE Report, New York Knicks claimed their first trophy in 52 years.
