FIFA fines Serbia over repeated fan misconduct

The behavior of Serbian fans during the Serbia–Albania match has brought serious consequences for the Serbian Football Federation.

FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee has decided to impose strict sanctions on the Serbian Federation following offensive chants and unsportsmanlike conduct by fans during the match in which Albania secured victory thanks to a goal by Manaj, CE Report quotes ATA.

In the decision made public, FIFA announced that in the next 2026 World Cup Qualifier against Latvia, which will take place in Leskovac, Serbia will be forced to play in front of a limited number of fans, as 25% of the stadium seats will remain closed.

In addition to this sanction, the Serbian Football Federation has been fined 87,500 Swiss francs, with FIFA stating that such incidents have become recurrent in recent matches of the Serbian national team.
