Marathon draws visitors to Albania's Shkodër
The city of Shkodër, Albania, turned into a “sports arena,” where 300 participants competed in various disciplines as part of the Shkodër Marathon.
This event, held for the first time this year in the northwestern city, is expected to become an annual tradition and also comes as part of the title “Shkodër – European City of Sport.” The event attracted attention from both local and international visitors, who enjoyed the sporting activity up close, CE Report quotes ATA.
The race was held in three categories: 2.5 km for ages 10–15, 5 km for ages 16–19, and 10 km for participants over 20.
Shkodër Mayor Benet Beci shared a photo album from the event and published the list of winners in the marathon by discipline. He emphasized that “the number of participants is expected to grow year by year, turning this initiative into a new tradition for the city, where all participants are winners.”
The marathon was organized by the Municipality of Shkodër, the athletics association “Vllaznia,” and the Albanian Athletics Federation.
