FIFA Referees Committee chairman Pierluigi Collina praised the use of new technologies at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, calling them a major success. Innovations included a referee body camera, semi-automatic offside alerts, and stricter enforcement of timing rules, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Collina said the referee cam provided valuable insights for both fans and referee training, offering a unique view of the game. “It went beyond expectations,” he told FIFA.com.

He also highlighted the effectiveness of the new eight-second rule limiting how long goalkeepers can hold the ball, which helped maintain game tempo. Additionally, semi-automatic offside technology was credited with faster and more accurate decisions.

The tournament concludes Sunday with Paris Saint-Germain facing Chelsea in the final.
