French Goalkeeper Transfer Could Shake Up Chelsea Lineup
French goalkeeper Mike Maignan is set to leave AC Milan this summer. Chelsea have opened talks with the Italian club to secure his services, taking advantage of the fact that Maignan has just one year left on his current contract, which expires in 2026, reports 'talksport', CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
AC Milan, due to their lack of qualification for European competitions, are facing financial challenges and could be willing to sell Maignan to avoid him leaving on a free transfer next year. Chelsea are ready to offer around €25m for the goalkeeper, while Milan are demanding a figure closer to €30m.
Maignan, who has won titles with Lille and Milan and has 30 caps for France, is seen as a valuable addition to Chelsea, particularly for his passing skills. However, new Milan coach Max Allegri is keen to keep Maignan, considering him a key part of his project.
If the transfer goes through, it will affect the situation of current Chelsea goalkeepers, such as Robert Sánchez and Đorđe Petrović, who could leave to make room for Maignan.
