President: Discrimination Still Present in Romanian Society
President Nicușor Dan acknowledged on Thursday that discrimination persists in Romanian society and criticized the tendency to avoid responsibility, CE Report quotes AGERPRES
Speaking at the European Day of Commemoration of the Roma Holocaust Victims, Dan said: “It is our obligation to know and assume our history, so we don't repeat the same mistakes.”
He warned against societal denial and blame-shifting, stressing the need to confront uncomfortable truths.
“There are still disadvantaged communities and mentalities that must change,” he added, urging authorities to act. “Children should start life with equal chances—that's essential, even in honoring the memory of those who died.”
