AEP Rejects AUR Fraud Claims
The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) has strongly denied allegations from the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) questioning the integrity of Romania’s electoral process. In a statement issued Thursday, the AEP called the accusations “unfounded and made in bad faith,” warning that such claims threaten the stability of key state institutions, CE Report quotes Agerpres
The authority highlighted that AUR’s own representative had full access to electoral systems on May 18, verifying the data in real time and confirming consistency with publicly available information. The AEP also noted that AUR initially acknowledged the validity of the process.
The AEP criticized AUR’s request to access voters' personal identification numbers (CNPs), stating it exceeds legal data protection limits.
Emphasizing the security of the 2025 presidential elections, AEP said the electoral systems used—including blockchain technology—complied with all legal and technical standards, preventing interference. No incidents or appeals were reported during or after voting, a fact supported by international observers.
The AEP urged citizens to rely only on official sources to avoid misinformation that undermines public trust.
