Romania’s Minister of National Defence, Angel Tîlvăr, met with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola in Brussels on Monday to discuss EU security and defence cooperation, CE Report quotes Agerpres

According to Romania's Ministry of Defence, Tîlvăr emphasized the European Parliament's key role in shaping a unified strategic defence vision and praised its commitment to supporting Ukraine, Moldova, and Western Balkans countries. He also underlined the importance of EU funding mechanisms like the European Defence Industry Programme (EDIP) and the SAFE initiative.

Tîlvăr highlighted Romania’s contributions to EU defence missions, including leadership roles in EUFOR Althea in Bosnia and Herzegovina and EUTM RCA in the Central African Republic. A key topic was the strategic significance of the Black Sea region amid growing hybrid threats and disinformation.
