In his year-end message, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis reaffirmed the country’s commitment to democracy, stability, and its pro-European path. Addressing the nation, he emphasized Romania's role as a reliable ally on the global stage and celebrated key accomplishments of 2024, including full Schengen membership and visa-free travel to the United States.

"Romania is a stable, democratic, secure, and pro-European country, a reliable partner for our foreign allies," said President Iohannis, reflecting on a year of both significant progress and challenges, CE Report quotes Agerpres

Despite global uncertainties, Romania saw rising living standards and economic growth, narrowing the gap with EU nations. However, the president noted the necessity of addressing societal discontent, urging solidarity and trust in democratic values to maintain progress.

Looking ahead to 2025, Iohannis called for decisive reforms and responsibility from the political class, emphasizing the importance of unity and shared commitment to justice, freedom, and democracy.

"History has shown that our nation’s spirit cannot be defeated," he said, encouraging Romanians to remain hopeful and committed to a pro-Western path.

The president concluded with a message of optimism for the New Year: "Together, we can accelerate Romania's development. Happy New Year!"
