Romania detects aerial targets near its border
Romania’s Ministry of National Defence radar surveillance system detected a group of aerial targets in Ukrainian airspace near the Romanian border at 10:08 on Thursday, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
According to a statement from Romania’s Ministry of National Defence (MApN), the National Military Command Centre notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations about the need to alert residents in the northern part of Tulcea County. A RO-Alert message was sent to the population at 10:18.
“Two F-18 aircraft belonging to the Spanish Air and Space Force, deployed for Enhanced Air Policing at the Mihail Kogălniceanu 57th Air Base, were scrambled at 10:23 to monitor the situation. In addition, an IAR-330 PUMA SOCAT helicopter of the Romanian Air Force was scrambled at 10:33,” the statement said.
