Croatia expels Serbian national after alleged theft near Zadar

Police in Zadar have filed criminal charges against a 38-year-old Serbian national on suspicion of stealing a parasol and sun loungers from the yard of a house in Sveti Petar.

She has also been expelled from Croatia and banned from entering and staying in the European Economic Area (EEA) for one year, CE Report quotes HINA.

According to police, the 38-year-old allegedly stole one parasol and three sun loungers from the yard of a house owned by a 59-year-old man at around 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 12.

The suspect was arrested on Wednesday in the Sukošan area. During the criminal investigation, police officers recovered the stolen items, which were seized and will be returned to their owner.

A criminal complaint on suspicion of theft has been filed with the competent State Attorney's Office in Zadar.

In accordance with Croatia's Foreigners Act, police issued a decision ordering her expulsion from the territory of the Republic of Croatia and the European Economic Area and imposed a one-year ban on entering and staying in the EEA.

In addition, the 38-year-old was fined for violating regulations requiring foreign nationals to register their short-term stay in Croatia within the prescribed deadline.
