Volodymyr Zelensky and Michael McCaul, Honorary Chair of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, discussed the results of the NATO summit and cooperation between the two countries.

This was reported by the Office of the President, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.

The head of state expressed gratitude for the bipartisan support and attention given to Ukraine.

As noted, McCaul congratulated Ukraine on the successful NATO summit in Ankara, particularly on the important decisions made to protect Ukrainian airspace. The congressman emphasized that ballistic missiles are one of the greatest threats posed by Russia.

Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the results of his meeting with Donald Trump in Ankara. According to him, the summit was a success for Ukraine.

“Licenses for future Patriot systems in Ukraine are very important. Of course, this sends a signal first and foremost to our people that we can be safe. But we understand that this is not a very short path. We have about 500 technology companies in Ukraine, and dozens of them are very strong. I hope they will be able to do this as quickly as possible—if we receive these licenses as soon as possible,” the President noted.

The meeting participants discussed the situation on the battlefield, Russian attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure and population, as well as Ukraine’s long-range retaliatory strikes, the consequences of which are being felt by the aggressor. Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is carrying out long-range strikes more than 2,500 km from the border. Currently, there is a fuel shortage throughout Russia; its economy is suffering significant losses, and more and more Russians are dissatisfied with this situation.

“We are very impressed by your people. What you have accomplished with drone technology is truly remarkable,” McCaul noted.

In addition, the president discussed work on a future “Drone Deal” agreement between Ukraine and the U.S., which will be a significant contribution to strengthening defense cooperation between the two countries. Importantly, the U.S. side is already testing certain Ukrainian drones—and the feedback has been positive.

The interlocutors focused on increasing sanctions pressure on Russia. McCaul spoke about a meeting with Ukrainian experts on sanctions that his delegation held during the visit. He and his team will review the relevant findings in Washington.

The head of state awarded McCaul the Order of Merit, Second Class. Ron Wahid, founder and chairman of the board of directors of the investment company Magellan Investment Holdings, who was present at the meeting, received the Order of Merit, Third Class.

As reported, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the U.S. has recognized Ukraine as a country capable of producing such complex systems as the Patriot; now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense must act promptly.
