Trump says Greenland should be under U.S. control
U.S. President Donald Trump said that Greenland should be under United States control, arguing that the Arctic island is strategically important for U.S. national security, CE Report quotes ANSA.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a bilateral meeting with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara, Trump said that "Greenland should be controlled by the United States. It is important for the U.S."
Trump also claimed that Greenland has become one of the issues affecting relations with NATO, arguing that Denmark has not invested enough in supporting the island.
"Greenland does not help Denmark. Denmark has not spent money to help Greenland, but it is important for the United States. It is surrounded by Chinese and Russian ships. Greenland should be controlled by the United States," Trump said.
