Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama reacted on Monday to protests in Tirana against the construction of a tourist resort in Zvërnec.

In a message on social media, the head of government stated that he appreciates the creativity of the memes produced by citizens during the protest, CE Report quotes ATA.

He added that some of his preferred memes cannot be published due to their content, stressing that he does not wish to create further misunderstandings about a project which, according to him, will further transform Albania.

Prime Minister Edi Rama has praised what he called “meme-mania” surrounding recent protests, adding it should not be misunderstood as opposition to the project in question.

“Long live meme-mania,” he wrote, noting that there should be no misunderstanding about his stance toward the ‘imaginary flamingo revolution.’

Prime Minister Edi Rama said that, while he finds “croak-croak” speeches deeply regrettable and unappealing, he is amused by the creativity of memes circulating online, which he thanked and congratulated their authors for.

He added that some of his preferred memes could not be posted due to their explicit content, warning that they could create further misunderstandings about what he described as a project that will further transform Albania.
