Montenegrin nationals request evacuation from Middle East countries
As many as 93 Montenegrin citizens have requested assistance from the country’s diplomatic and consular missions to return from several Middle Eastern states, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro said.
According to Radio Televizija Crne Gore, Montenegrin nationals sought help to return home from Jordan, Oman, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Iran, and Egypt, CE Report quotes FENA.
“The majority are tourists who, due to the current circumstances, found themselves in the listed countries and expressed interest in returning to Montenegro. Some of them have already returned to their homes,” the Ministry explained.
According to information from the Embassy of Montenegro in Abu Dhabi, around 160 Montenegrin citizens are currently in the UAE with regulated residency status. However, the exact number of Montenegrin nationals living and working across Middle Eastern countries is not known.
“Records are kept exclusively on a voluntary basis, meaning only in cases when citizens themselves contact the Embassy or Consulate,” the Ministry stated, adding that it is actively monitoring developments and remains in constant communication with all Montenegrin citizens who have requested assistance.
