The animated film The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, produced by Illumination and Nintendo and distributed by Universal Pictures, continued to dominate the North American box office for the third consecutive weekend.

It earned an estimated $35 million from ticket sales, according to data released by Comscore and cited by Xinhua, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.

This family blockbuster, based on Nintendo’s “Mario” video game series, has already become the most profitable Hollywood film of the year. By Sunday, it had grossed $355.2 million in North America and $747.5 million worldwide.

The sci-fi film Project Hail Mary from Amazon MGM Studios remained in second place with $20.5 million in its fifth weekend since release. The film’s domestic total reached $285.1 million, contributing to a global total of $573.1 million.

Rounding out the top three is the horror film Lee Cronin’s The Mummy from Warner Bros., which debuted over the weekend with $13.5 million in ticket sales.
