The President of China, Xi Jinping, stated that “normal traffic” through the Strait of Hormuz “must be maintained,” CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

He made these remarks on Monday during a phone call with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman.

Xi is expected to meet Donald Trump in China in May, after the visit was initially postponed due to the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

Regarding the situation in the Middle East, Xi emphasized that China supports an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire and an end to hostilities. He said China backs all efforts aimed at restoring peace and insists that disputes be resolved through political and diplomatic means.

China also supports countries in the region in building a shared space based on good neighborliness, development, security, and cooperation, enabling them to shape their own future and promote long-term peace and stability.

The Saudi Crown Prince noted that the current conflicts in the Middle East have undermined security in Gulf countries and had a serious impact on global energy supplies and the world economy.

He added that Saudi Arabia is committed to resolving conflicts through dialogue and hopes to prevent further escalation.
