A man accused of attempted murder has been arrested in Spain pending extradition to Albania.

Following the receipt of information from State Police units and its timely exchange with Interpol Madrid, another phase of the international operation codenamed “The Wanted” has been successfully completed, CE Report informs via the State Police of Albania's official website.

As part of the operation, a 36-year-old Albanian national identified as A. N., born in Shkodër and wanted internationally, was provisionally arrested in Spain pending his extradition to Albania.

In 2022, the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Shkodër ordered the man's pre-trial detention on charges of attempted murder and the illegal possession and production of firearms, explosive weapons and ammunition.

The 36-year-old is accused of opening fire with an automatic firearm in March 2022, allegedly over trivial motives, targeting a business owned by S. S. in the Skënderbeg neighbourhood. The shooting caused only material damage.

Interpol Tirana is continuing its cooperation with Interpol Madrid to complete the extradition procedure and bring the 36-year-old back to Albania.
